At Upward Together, our work doesn’t start when students enter the classroom—it begins long before, in the quiet moments of preparation filled with love, intention, and connection.

One of the most beautiful parts of our program is watching our Teaching Artists prepare lessons side-by-side with their partners. Before a single marker is uncapped or an oil pastel is chosen, they sit together at the table, sketching name designs, choosing colors, testing out art techniques, and imagining how each student will light up.

It’s not just prep—it’s partnership.
It’s creativity flowing between two people who support each other.
It’s conversation, laughter, problem-solving, and dreaming.
It’s love expressed through service to our students.

In these moments, art becomes more than a lesson plan—it becomes a shared ritual that strengthens:
